DCA Director Steps Down to Pursue Research Position within international agrifood systems
Vice Dean Ole Hertel has announced that Centre Director Niels Halberg will be stepping down from his current position to assume a new role as Senior Scientist at the Institute of Agroecology, returning to his research areas in agrifood systems and continuing international collaboration.

Over the past decade, Niels Halberg has been an invaluable asset to DCA, significantly strengthening the processes of science advice and enhancing the Centre's commitment to trans-European collaboration in science advice and the support to HE partnerships, the Mission Soil and Living labs. Under his leadership, DCA and the Faculty of Technical Sciences at Aarhus University have achieved a strong and reputable standing in these areas across Europe. His contributions have not only elevated the Centre's profile but also strengthened our international partnerships.
Vice Dean Ole Hertel expressed his gratitude for Niels Halberg's exceptional work: "We are deeply thankful for Niels' outstanding efforts and the remarkable international work he has done on behalf of Aarhus University. His work has left a lasting impact, and we wish him the best of luck in his new endeavours at the Institute of Agroecology."
Niels Halberg's transition takes effect on January 1stth, 2025, and it marks a new chapter for both him and the Centre. The search for a new Director for DCA is currently underway, and further information will be provided as soon as possible.
