European food innovation competition to be hosted in Aarhus

EIT Food Innovation Prize, a unique opportunity for early-startups, is coming to Aarhus 6th September 2019

If your are an entrepreneur or early stage start-up company (either researcher or student) who are in the food space - within the areas of food for better health, improving the environment, or more trusted and transparent food systems, you now have a chance to participate in one of Europe’s major startup competitions within the field of agrifood.

The EIT Food Innovation Prize will be hosted by the hub for food innovation in Denmark – and Danish Food Cluster, Danish Food Innovation and Aarhus University are the official hosts of the event. Aarhus University recently joined as partner in the EIT Food consortium as the first  new Scandinavian partner.

The EIT Food consortium consists of more than 50 partners from 13 European countries, including leading international food companies, research centres and universities. 

Food challenges in focus
Part of the European Institute of Innovation & Technology, EIT Food has a mission to solve the many challenges facing the future of our food system. The EIT Innovation Prizes are aimed at and early-stage agrifood startups with a business idea that can benefit human health and the environment and contribute to more transparency and trust.

Selected finalists will have the chance to pitch their business to an expert jury, which will then select the winners of the EUR 10,000 first prize and EUR 5,000 second prize.

At the event, international competitors will have access to potential collaboration partners, investors, researchers and other food industry contacts from the Danish food ecosystem.

The competition takes places September, 6th same week as Aarhus Food Festival

Deadline for application is of 12. May 2019 

  In addition to Aarhus in Denmark, EIT Food Innovation Prize events are being held in 16 other countries in Europe.  

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is an independent body under the auspices of the EU. It was established in 2008 with the purpose of boosting innovation and entrepreneurship in Europe. EIT is an umbrella body for a range of consortia working with innovation and entrepreneurship in various areas, such as climate, raw materials and food.
