Birte Boelt appointed as one of the 20 most influential women in the European Seed Sector

Professor Birte Boelt from Aarhus has been selected as one of the 20 most influential women in the European seed sector by Seed World Europe.

Seed World Europe has dedicated this edition of their annual '20 Most' feature to recognise and celebrate women who significantly contribute to Europe's seed sector. Included in the list is Professor Birte Boelt from the Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, recognised for her influence and contributions to plant science and agriculture. 

Birte Boelt has emerged as a key figure in the seed sector. Her leadership and dedication to research have had a significant impact on sustainable agricultural practices, increased seed yield and quality, and promoted collaboration between industry and research. This is the main reason for her prestigious appointment. However, it is not the only one. Since 2007, Birte Boelt has been at the forefront of the DanSeed Symposium. Here, she has created a platform for knowledge sharing and strengthened collaboration between the seed industry and the research world. Her dedicated work has created a space where new knowledge and ideas can flourish, and where industry and research can find common ground. 

International recognition and commitment 

Birte Boelt's international engagement includes important roles in the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA), and she has been the president of the International Herbage Seed Group. Her contributions to international organisations not only demonstrate her expertise but also her commitment to improving the seed sector globally. Her passion for understanding plant-environment interactions has resulted in innovative solutions for efficient cultivation and has made her a mentor for students and a leading figure for the next generation of seed researchers at Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University.
