Research activities

Department of Agroecology, Flakkebjerg
The research focuses on cereal and seed production, crop protection, pollination and bee diseases. The department houses the Global Reference Centre: Wheat Yellow Rust (GRC-YR). The centre functions as an umbrella organisation for a number of international research and monitoring activities.

The national collaboration on seed research also has its home in the department. This involves a number of partners who are endeavouring to strengthen knowledge-based growth and development in seed and cereal production in Region Sjælland.

Center for Quantitative Genetics and Genomics, Flakkebjerg
The centre has extensive activities within plant genetics and biotechnology. The primary focus is on achieving a deeper understanding of the genetic basis for a number of quality parameters in grasses and cereals with the help of Danish breeders and to improve these crops through crossing and genetic modification.

The research endeavour has a high degree of involvement from external partners and is also an important knowledge base for DCA – Danish Centre for Food and Agriculture – at Aarhus University
