DCA publishes its first annual report

"Perspective" is the name of the new annual report published by DCA – Danish Centre for Food and Agriculture.

"Perspective" is the name of DCA's new annual report, which can be read by anyone with an interest in food and agriculture. Its purpose is to put the activities of the centre’s core areas, which include consultancy, industrial collaboration and basic research, into perspective.

DCA solves some 200-300 different policy support tasks on an annual basis, which are divided into 13 thematic areas. An important element in DCA's advice is that it is independent, impartial and at arm's length to the authorities and organisations. Research in the 13 thematic areas provides not only the basis for advice to authorities; it is also to a great extent the basis for a comprehensive industrial collaboration.

Growth, development and employment

For each of the 13 thematic areas the report provides examples of how the collaboration with companies and professional organisations has resulted in the development of new products and technologies that have yielded growth, development and employment in the agricultural and food sector.

- The interesting thing is that within the agrifood sector, research into public issues such as food quality, the environment and animal welfare often leads to the development of new technologies and products that lend a competitive edge to Danish food production. In the annual report we attempt to highlight these perspectives, which is why our annual report is called Perspective, explains Niels Halberg, director of DCA.

The annual report can be downloaded, but it is also possible to order printed copies by sending an email to dca@au.dk – stating name and address.
