Professor and Section Manager Jørgen E. Olesen from the Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University has been appointed as a member of a new climate panel established by Innovation Fund Denmark. The panel includes leading researchers from Denmark and abroad, some of the country’s largest companies, interest groups, investors and others with a clear focus on concrete climate solutions.

The purpose of the new climate panel is to bring together researchers and industry to ensure that Denmark gets the most out of the large amounts of money that Innovation Fund Denmark invests in climate projects. In addition, the purpose is to contribute to ensuring that the fund strengthens its strategic focus on investing its research funds in the most efficient technologies and innovative solutions to help solve the major climate and environmental challenges facing the world today.

The climate panel will also help encourage researchers, entrepreneurs and businesses to increase investments and efforts in research and technological development to solve the climate challenge.

- By connecting knowledge and ideas from research with those from businesses and vice versa, concrete and viable solutions to the climate challenge can be developed, putting Denmark in the lead in this area, says Professor Jørgen E. Olesen.

Innovation Fund Denmark invests approximately 1.5 billion kroner annually in strategic research, technological development, and innovation. In recent years, the fund has invested more than one billion kroner in projects aimed at solving national and global climate problems.

The Innovation Fund Denmark’s climate panel includes representatives from the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center, World Economic Forum, International Energy Agency, Danish Green Investment Fund, pension funds, Aarhus University, University of Copenhagen, and some of Denmark’s largest companies.
