The new plant is part of BioBase – a major initiative in biorefining and bio-based production being undertaken by Aarhus University at present.

In addition to developing HTL technology, the initiative includes the development of new cultivation systems that combine food and energy production, research into options for utilising biomass from extensive agricultural and natural areas, developing biorefining technologies for extracting protein from grass, and financial and environmental assessments of bio-based production.

The aim is that the BioBase activities form a basis for collaboration with companies and organisations in both the energy and agriculture sectors. Another aim is that the activities help provide new opportunities for agricultural and food production in Denmark.

People with an interest in this area are hereby invited to attend the inaugural event in building L 38, AU Foulum, on Friday 22 May.
